Tracy Harrison, Founder/ Chairman — Daily operations of House of Hope

Before moving to Russia in 2004, Tracy was a Special Needs Assistant Teacher for teenagers at a High School in Western Australia. She also provided respite relief to parents in need and was a volunteer for various charities and businesses in NSW and in Western Australia.

Tracy’s role at House of Hope is primarily working with the young adults to meet their physical, emotional and cognitive needs. As the founder and chairman of House of Hope, she has the drive, the dream and the passion to help change the lives of the orphans in Yuzhno-Sahalinsk.

Peter Harrison, Founder, Board Member, Accountant / Daily Operations worked with Electricity Generation and distribution organizations for 16 years. In this time he worked in various roles including Electrician, Engineering Officer, Power Plant Operator and Team leader. Since moving to Sakhalin in 2005 Peter has been working with Sakhalin’s orphaned teenagers and young adults, hoping to improve their opportunities in life.

Sherry Garg
Sherry Garg, Event coordinator/Accounting Advisor

Sherry previously worked as an Assignment Coordinator, organizing client International workplace relocations. In this role, she liaised with different cultures and assisted in client cross-cultural training for adapting to new environments. Sherry relocated to Sakhalin in 2010 and began volunteering at House of Hope where she predominantly assists in organizing and planning the annual Gala event and tracks financial expenditures. Sherry currently is developing an educational/workplace program to help adapt the kids to professional working environments.

Shaun GoingConstruction Advisor

Shaun is General Director of Sakhwest  Construction,  a Canadian/Russian Joint Venture established in Sakhalin in 1997. His core business is Engineering and Construction and he has been active with the House of Hope for three years in the areas of fund raising and real estate consultation. His primary role as a Board Member is to provide guidance in assisting with the completion of the House of Hope’s new home.

Mark Stavinoha, Financial Support Coordinator

Mark has over 13 years experience volunteering with various non-profit organizations where he specialized in business development, management and fund raising.  Mark has been working in Sakhalin since late 2007 and in late 2011 he relocated to Yuzhno where he is the Sakhalin District Manager for the world’s largest oilfield chemical company which provides services to major oil and gas projects on Sakhalin Island.  In his role with House of Hope, Mark helps increase financial support both from the local community as well as from abroad while working to ensure the organization efficiently uses all resources to provide the most benefit to the underprivileged it serves.

Melissa Sturgis, Communication Liaison

Melissa has over 18 years experience in non-profit public relations and development. Prior to moving to Sakhalin Island in January 2013, Melissa worked as Director of Public Relations for TIRR rehabilitation hospital in Houston’s Texas Medical Center and Director of Public Relations for the Visiting Nurse Association of Cleveland. In her role with House of Hope, Melissa will help ensure ongoing communications with internal and external audiences, including current and prospective donors.
